Job summary

Homestake Peak School seeks a Head Volleyball Coach for the 7th grade program to lead and oversee athletic instruction, policy development, and team culture. Responsibilities

  • Develop and submit team policies (e.g., lettering criteria) for administrative review prior to the first contest.
  • Establish and implement the program’s philosophy, skills, and instructional techniques.
  • Manage the program within budget allocations; collaborate with the Athletic Director on current and future budget needs.
  • Recommend equipment specifications and oversee purchasing, inventory, and accountability for all issued equipment.
  • Ensure proper issuing, storage, maintenance, and reconditioning of equipment; maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Conduct preseason meetings with parents and student-athletes to communicate expectations, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to assistant coaches; delegate responsibilities and evaluate staff performance.
  • Ensure all coaching staff adhere to Eagle County Schools and CHSAA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with CHSAA, league, and applicable national regulations.
  • Organize and supervise all practices, contests, and program activities; adhere to facility schedules.
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of required documentation (physical exams, consent forms, eligibility, insurance).
  • Report student-athlete eligibility status as required to the Athletic Director and appropriate governing bodies.
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress and behavior to maintain eligibility.
  • Supervise student-athletes from arrival through dismissal at all team activities.
  • Establish and enforce team rules and sport-specific expectations.
  • Direct and supervise assistant coaches, statisticians, and student managers.
  • Monitor and maintain athletic facilities and program areas.
  • Promote the sport within the school and community through recruitment, youth programs, and media engagement.
  • Enforce all aspects of the Eagle County Schools Athletic Handbook.
  • Promote respect for school property and ensure proper care of equipment.
  • Secure facilities (doors, windows, lights, locks) after use.
  • Attend all practices, games, and team travel; ensure appropriate supervision and safety of participants.
  • Maintain positive public relations with parents, media, booster organizations, officials, and the community.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Director on scheduling and management of tournaments and special events.
  • Follow the established chain of command for communication and issue resolution.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and security of equipment and facilities.
  • Communicate program information, schedules, and results as appropriate.
  • Prohibit and prevent all forms of harassment or hazing; utilize appropriate team-building activities.
  • Complete and submit injury reports within 24 hours of any incident.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
