Job summary

Kalamazoo Central High School seeks a Varsity Softball Head Coach for Spring 2027. The role reports to the Athletic Director and works with the varsity team to build skill, strategy, and school spirit.

Responsibilities include leading tryouts, coordinating practices and games, and enforcing athletic policies within the district. The candidate should have coaching experience, CPR/First Aid, CAP certifications, and a background in urban educational settings.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at least two years in a recognized program.
• First aid and CPR training or willingness to complete before the second season.
• CAP 1 and CAP 2 completed or by the end of the second season.
• Minimum three years of experience working with children in urban educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Organize and lead varsity player tryouts and selection.
• Coordinate and organize varsity practice and game events.
• Follow due process guidelines when disciplining athletes.
• Meet deadlines for rosters, physicals, and officials’ ratings.
• Exhibit enthusiasm toward athletes and display respect for the program and staff.
• Dress appropriately for games and practices; act as a role model.
• Foster school spirit by promoting other sports, clubs, and co-curricular activities.
