Job summary

Blacksburg High School, part of Montgomery County Public Schools, seeks a Dive Head Varsity Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The role requires leadership of the varsity dive program, emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, safety, and sportsmanship.

The successful candidate will monitor student eligibility, communicate with parents and staff, and maintain regular on-site attendance while developing student-athletes' skills and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Completion of ASEP course and VHSL Basic Virginia High School League before coaching duties with MCPS (fee applies).
• Completion of NFHS Concussion in Sports course before coaching duties with MCPS (no fee).
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and administrators.
• Ability to motivate students.
• Dependable and punctual; regular on-site attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a high quality athletic program stressing fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Maintain high safety standards for all athletes.
• Monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
