Job summary

Churchland High in Portsmouth, Virginia is seeking a Head Tennis Coach for a Part-Time role. Immediate starting date. The successful candidate will lead and develop the high school tennis program, implement VHSL rules, mentor student-athletes, and promote good sportsmanship within a team-centered program.

Minimum coaching experience and strong knowledge of tennis rules are required. Applicants must be able to work with young athletes and maintain a positive, program-focused approach.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of one year of coaching experience as an Assistant or Head Coach preferred. Must have extensive knowledge of the rules and skills in the sport applying for; must be program centered; must have specific skills and exhibits good sportsmanship; must have knowledge of VHSL rules and works well with children. Previously competed at the college level, club team or professional level.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Work may involve exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for several hours per day.
• Work environment may involve minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating heavy and/or dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
