Job summary

The East Hartford YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater Hartford, seeks a Preschool Head Teacher to lead preschool age child care programs under the Child Care Director. You will oversee development, planning, administration, supervision and delivery of the program.

Candidates should have relevant degrees and experience with 3-5 year olds, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and a commitment to the YMCA mission. Employment is subject to background check.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field.
• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with two years direct experience with 3- to 5-year-olds, including two years in supervision.
• Two years direct supervisory experience with preschool children.
• Knowledge of YMCA goals and mission.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Maturity, responsibility and sincere interest in working with children.
• Computer literacy in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Description:

The East Hartford YMCA is seeking a cause driven, innovative Preschool Head Teacher to join their team. Under the direction of the Child Care Director, the Preschool Head Teacher works for the YMCA of Greater Hartford and is responsible for the development, coordination, planning, administration, supervision, and delivery of the Preschool age Child Care programming. Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation and maintenance of the preschool age child care program.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field preferred.
• A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field AND two years direct experience working with children ages 3 to 5 years, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Possess a general knowledge and understanding of the YMCA, its goals, and its mission.
• Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in working with children.
• Have very strong interpersonal and organization skills.
• Knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities.
• Computer literacy in the use of Windows-based programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
