Job summary

Woodhill Country Club is seeking a Head Swim Team Coach for the summer season to lead Woodhill’s swim team, provide instruction, and motivate swimmers. You will attend meets and team functions, ensure safety and fun, and coordinate with Lafayette Club for joint events.

The role requires coaching experience, weekend availability, and strong communication; compensation is hourly with potential discretionary bonus and meals on duty.

Qualifications

• Passion to recognize and develop abilities in swimmers of all ages and abilities.
• Positive attitude and proven swim team coaching experience; experience in WSL is a plus.
• Desire to perform at a high level with minimal supervision.
• Ability to prioritize, anticipate situations, and take quick action.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build a positive team environment that values sportsmanship, effort, and respect.
• Develop and deliver weekday structured practice plans that build skills, conditioning, and confidence in the swimmers.
• Communicate clearly with athletes, parents, and the club in a consistent and positive manner.
• Coordinate meet lineups, entries, parent timer volunteers for meets, and event strategies, including Champs and Jr Champs at end of season.
• Hire personable, dependable, and enthusiastic swim team assistant coaches who are committed to the swimmers and coaches who will likely return for multiple seasons.
• Lead and support the Junior swim team practices, encouraging kids to have fun and join team to compete.
• Ensure the sport remains fun and every swimmer has opportunity to succeed with resources to achieve goals.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and handle administrative matters relating to the team.
