Job summary

Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant in Ogallala to provide classroom support and help create a safe, active learning environment for young children.

The role involves assisting with curriculum, child assessments, home visits, and conferences, with a 7:15 am–3:30 pm schedule, 40 hours/week for 38 weeks and summer off. CDA pathway offered; pay range $16.33–$17.83/hour depending on certs and experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Willing to enroll in a CDA credential program within 2 years; Head Start will pay for and assist in completion.

Responsibilities

• Assist with documentation of child outcomes via anecdotal notes and growth records.
• Assist in home visits and parent/staff conferences.
• Cover other center positions during staff absences.
• Assist with classroom management and lesson planning.
• Support oral health practices in the classroom.
• Assist in meeting Individual Education Plan goals.
• Engage in Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior.

Join our team as a Head Start Teacher Assistant! Seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual passionate about making a difference in young children's lives.

Position: Teacher Assistant

Program and Location: Ogallala Head Start, Ogallala

Position Summary: The Teacher Assistant is responsible for providing Teacher support in the classroom. They also provide a safe, pleasant, active learning and problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of the curriculum, which includes active learning and practices that are developmentally appropriate.
• Assist with completion of the Child Assessment to document child outcomes through anecdotal notes and other documentation.
• Assist in conducting initial and mid-year home visits along with parent/staff conferences.
• Assume the role and responsibility of other center positions during staff absences.
• Assist in classroom management and lesson planning/implementation.
• Assist in the implementation of oral health practices.
• Assist in meeting Individual Education Plan goals.
• Be actively engaged in all Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior.

Tasks and Duties

• Assist with completion of development and social emotional screenings for each child.
• Assist Teacher in completing child growth assessments.
• Assist with completion of Child Development Plans.
• Assist with and attend Head Start events as needed.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Individuals without a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential must be willing to enroll in a child development associate credential program to be completed within 2 years. Head Start will pay for and assist in the completion of a CDA for the right candidate!

Schedule/Hours

Scheduled hours are generally between 7:15 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday. 40 Hours a week for 38 weeks. This position has summer months off.

Pay Rate

Starting wage ranges from $16.33 - $17.83 per hour. Starting pay will be based on certifications and experience.
