Job summary

Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe seeks an Assistant Teacher for its Head Start/Child Care program. The role provides a safe, supervised educational setting and supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development for children.

You will encourage parent involvement and coordinate individualized plans with Ojibwe language and culture components. The position requires a High School Diploma, CDA or progress toward an AA in Early Childhood, CPR/First Aid, and successful background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• CDA or plan to obtain within 1 year; AA degree in Early Childhood preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor children at all times.
• Participate in team meetings to plan cross-component services.
• Respond to crises or emergencies appropriately.
• Adapt curriculum to meet individual goals per IEP/IFSP.
• Maintain documentation and progress in child portfolios.
• Promote parental involvement and effective transitions between activities.
