Job summary

The Maryland Rural Development Corporation is seeking a dedicated MRDC Bus Driver to transport Head Start children to and from centers safely and on schedule. This role emphasizes passenger safety and daily reliability.

Responsibilities include securing belts or car seats, maintaining a clean driving record, completing required DOT physicals and TB tests, and collaborating with families and Site Supervisor to plan efficient routes that keep children safe at all times.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must hold a CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must complete a DOT annual physical, and a TB test.
• Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centres efficiently and safely.
• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate car seats and belted in.
• Ensure that any behavioural issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.
• Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult on the authorised list.
• Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures to prevent this.
• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.
