Job summary

Mid-Sioux Opportunity Inc. seeks a dedicated Head Start assistant/teacher in Le Mars, IA. You will assist in daily classroom lesson planning, support school readiness, and work closely with the Team Leader/Teacher to create a nurturing educational environment.

• Center-based work experience with pre-school age children preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Be knowledgeable of Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, Iowa Licensing Regulations and program policies/procedures.
• Relate positively to low resource preschool children, families and staff.
• Collaborate with staff to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
• Maintain staff-to-child ratio and ensure children's safety at all times.
• Provide a high-quality educational indoor and outdoor learning environment using High Scope, PBIS, and 2nd Step curriculums.
• Assist with planning and implementing daily classroom lesson plans.
• Enter anecdotal notes into Teaching Strategies online GOLD and use assessment data to improve curriculum.
