Job summary

Maricopa Unified School District is seeking a Head Percussion Instructor to lead the percussion program for the high school band and winter indoor percussion unit. The role involves writing and arranging percussion music, coordinating rehearsals, and ensuring engaging, high-quality performances.

The position reports to the Principal or Designee, with days and hours arranged and a salary per the current schedule. Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.

Qualifications

• Experience performing percussion instruments
• Experience performing and/or teaching in a competitive circuit
• Flexibility in meeting diverse student needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Work with students.
• Collaborate with the band director to write and design effective performance shows.
• Write and arrange percussion music.
• Organize and lead effective rehearsals in a positive, professional environment.
• Attend all performances and competitions.
• Interact with students, parents, and other instructors professionally.
• Manage percussion equipment and coordinate with band director on equipment needs.
