Job summary

A leading robotics company in California is seeking a Director of Robot Design to lead the design and engineering of robotic hardware systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the architecture and driving technical decisions across mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems. With more than 5 years in robotics and strong leadership skills, you will collaborate with various teams to ensure successful product delivery. This role requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field and a proven track record of delivering robotic products to production scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related fields.
• More than 5 years in robotics or complex electromechanical systems.
• 3+ years in technical leadership or engineering management roles.
• Proven experience delivering robotic products to production scale.
• Strong system-level understanding of mechanical, motor, electrical, and embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the robot system architecture.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, actuation, and electrical systems.
• Drive technical decision-making on performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Oversee structural, thermal, and durability analysis.
• Establish engineering standards and review designs.
• Collaborate with Product, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
