Job summary

Capital One seeks a Senior Director, Data Engineer to lead 50+ data-engineering and ML teams across identity analytics, access decisioning, and security platforms in a cloud environment. You will partner with product, data science, architects, and C-suite to align strategy with business and regulatory priorities.

You will own multi-year platform roadmaps, drive real-time identity decisioning, streaming pipelines, and robust ML infrastructure, while advancing MLOps, security, and data governance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field
• At least 9 years of experience in data engineering
• At least 7 years of people management experience
• At least 7 years of experience programming (Python, Java, or Scala)
• At least 5 years of experience driving technical delivery of roadmap features
• At least 6 years of experience designing and developing data pipelines
• At least 4 years of experience in data modeling and end-to-end data solutions

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise strategy and multi-year roadmap for identity analytics and security platforms
• Lead and grow a 50+ person organization across Data Engineering, ML, Generative AI, and Security Products
• Review architectures, model designs, and system trade-offs
• Architect low-latency, event-driven systems for real-time identity decisioning
• Design and maintain robust ML infrastructure and pipelines for end-to-end workflows
• Advance MLOps practices with automated deployment workflows and monitoring
• Build intelligence layer for agentic and non-human identity, securing AI agents
• Apply state-of-the-art LLM and GenAI techniques in production for threat intelligence and adaptive policies
• Operate automated governance with pipelines from enterprise and IGA platforms
• Lead enterprise readiness for frontier AI model cyber risk
