Our client is seeking a driven and capable leader to oversee Chemistry Quality Control operations, ensuring reliable laboratory performance and acting as deputy to the Head of Quality Control.

Your objectives:
As the Deputy Head of Quality Control, you will be measured against the following objectives:
- Ensure on-time, right first time delivery of analytical testing to support commercial manufacturing and product release.
- Maintain inspection readiness in line with United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and global Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
- Develop team capability and operational strength to support succession planning and long-term laboratory performance.
What you will do:
As the Deputy Head of Quality Control, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Chemistry QC laboratory, ensuring efficient testing, scheduling, and resource management.
- Directly manage and develop a team of approximately 10 QC professionals, setting clear expectations and performance standards.
- Deputise for the Head of Quality Control during audits, inspections, and senior leadership meetings.
- Oversee analytical testing, method performance, and data review to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely batch disposition.
- Champion data integrity principles, laboratory investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner closely with Quality Assurance (QA), Manufacturing, and Technical Operations to resolve issues and reduce cycle times.
- Support strategic planning for laboratory capacity, capability expansion, and future growth.
What you will bring:
These are the skills and experience you will need to succeed as the Deputy Head of Quality Control:
- Strong leadership experience within a Chemistry QC laboratory in a small molecule CDMO or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Proven operational laboratory management experience within a commercial GMP setting.
- Direct experience hosting or supporting FDA inspections, with exposure to global regulatory audits desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop laboratory teams in a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of analytical testing, laboratory investigations, and data integrity requirements.
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- A Master of Science (MSc) or relevant postgraduate qualification is desirable.
