Job summary

Indiana Michigan Power Company is seeking a Director External Affairs to lead strategies in community relations, policy influence, and internal/external communications. You will oversee managers and staff, steering relationships with regulators, government bodies, and communities to advance business goals and energy initiatives.

The role requires 8 years of relevant experience, strong leadership, and exceptional communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Public Policy, Communications, or related field.
• Master’s degree desirable.
• 8 years’ experience in Community Relations, Economic Development, Government Relations or Customer Relations.
• Demonstrated ability to build strategic internal and external relationships and political acumen.
• Demonstrated and successful leadership and strong communication/presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel to various locations (~25%).

Responsibilities

• Lead development of strategies and policies for community relations and public policy.
• Direct staff and consultants to manage contacts and relationships with legislators, regulators and communities.
• Oversee investment of political and community contribution resources.
• Coordinate responses to emerging community and business development issues.
• Engage with community organizations and advocate for safety programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
