Job summary

San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative (SLVREC) seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to serve as Chief Power Engineering Officer (CPEO). The role leads strategy, planning, design, and reliable operation of the cooperative's electrical system, and drives adoption of new technologies to stay competitive.

You will mentor the engineering staff, manage the department budget, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and collaborate with the COO and leadership team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering ABET-accredited or equivalent.
• 5 years' relevant electric power experience.
• Colorado PE license preferred or able to obtain.
• Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
• Valid Colorado driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Reliability: electric system reliability and continuous improvement.
• Planning: lead all electric system planning and performance.
• Department budget: budgeting and fiscal responsibility.
• Design: project design, budgeting, and as-built evaluation for all projects.
• Standards: develop and maintain electrical standards and SOPs.
• Innovation: implement new technologies to enhance value and efficiency.
• Collaboration: work with COO and leaders to support teams.
• Leadership and mentorship: guide engineering staff with a culture of excellence and safety.
• System Operator Backup: provide backup and advise during emergencies.
