Job description

Healthy Together is a health & government technology company providing AI-native SaaS platforms that streamline how public health, human services, and community-centered programs are delivered and experienced. The company’s technology helps governments deploy complex enrollment, eligibility, and management information systems that improve health equity, reduce administrative cost, and increase the impact benefit delivery across populations.

Healthy Together’s platform supports a “One Door” approach to services such as Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infant, Children Program (WIC), disease surveillance, behavioral health engagement, vital records, and child welfare—enabling integrated workflows and simplified access for millions of residents.

The company’s mobile platform has achieved broad adoption and user engagement across public programs, helping to re-architect how residents interact with health and human services in real time and enabling efficient communication between agencies and the people they serve.

Strategic Market Context

The United States health and human services landscape is undergoing structural transformation driven by escalating demands for:

  • Operational efficiency in public health delivery
  • Improved experience and outcomes for underserved populations

Legacy systems and providers - often siloed and costly to maintain - are expensive and increasingly unable to support modern program requirements. Organizations require agile, AI-native platforms to respond in real time to emerging health challenges, evolving policy mandates, and changing resident expectations. Healthy Together’s architecture is purpose-built to address these historic gaps, enabling rapid deployment, modular scaling, and cross-system integration that legacy vendors struggle to deliver.

The company completed a Series A round with General Catalyst to help expand deployment of Healthy Together’s solutions in multiple states and enterprise settings, with significant utilization metrics that underscore the demand for modern engagement and service delivery tools.

Healthy Together AI systems are currently deployed with 10 U.S. states and territories. For example, the Florida Department of Health has expanded its partnership with Healthy Together to strengthen disease outbreak response and streamline public health workflows, with over 4.5 million residents served since 2020.

Innovation and Expansion

In March 2024, Healthy Together announced the acquisition of Kinsa Health, incorporating its AI-powered illness forecasting capabilities into the Healthy Together platform. This strategic integration expands predictive analytics and community health intelligence, enabling stakeholders across public and private sectors to anticipate illness trends and allocate resources proactively.

Recognition and Impact

Healthy Together continues to strengthen its footprint in health technology innovation, combining real-world deployment with user-centric design and strong performance indicators (notably high app ratings and user feedback). Its technology is increasingly relied upon by health systems, government agencies, and partners to deliver outcomes that matter—both for individual residents and broader communities.

For example, the Florida Department of Health has expanded its partnership with Healthy Together to strengthen disease outbreak response and streamline public health workflows, with over 4.5 million residents served since 2020.

The Position and Background

The Head of Platform will serve as the senior engineering leader responsible for the architecture, development, scalability, and reliability of Healthy Together’s core technology platform. This role is functionally equivalent to an SVP of Engineering and is critical to ensuring that the company’s AI-native, enterprise-grade SaaS platform continues to scale securely and reliably in complex public sector and regulated environments.

The successful candidate brings strong development management experience overseeing the successful buildout and evolution of a complex, enterprise SaaS, cloud, or hosted software solution within a growth-stage organization. They have operated at the Director level or above and have led teams through meaningful scale—balancing speed, quality, and long-term platform integrity as customer demand, system complexity, and organizational size increase.

This leader has a deep technical foundation, ideally with hands-on, low-level engineering experience earlier in their career. While the role is not a hands-on coding position, credibility with senior engineers and the ability to engage meaningfully on architectural decisions, system performance, scalability tradeoffs, and backend design is essential. Additional exposure to backend development and/or solutions architecture is valued and will further enable effective cross-functional leadership.

Healthy Together is seeking an engineering leader whose experience extends beyond early-stage startups alone, beyond narrowly scoped or non-complex products, and beyond purely large-company environments. The ideal candidate understands how to build and evolve sophisticated platforms in the middle of rapid growth—where systems must remain resilient, compliant, and extensible while supporting expanding customer use cases and deployment environments.

Above all, this role requires a collaborative, pragmatic, and high-integrity leader who sets a strong technical bar, builds high-performing teams, and fosters a culture of accountability, curiosity, and mutual respect.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to own and shape the technical foundation of a mission-critical platform operating at meaningful scale in public health and human services. The Head of Platform will play a central role in defining the architectural direction, engineering standards, and delivery discipline that enable Healthy Together to continue expanding across states, programs, and populations.

The role offers the chance to build and lead a world-class engineering organization—strengthening platform capabilities, modernizing systems where needed, and ensuring that reliability, security, and performance keep pace with rapid growth and increasing complexity. This leader will work closely with product, data, security, and executive leadership to translate business priorities into durable technical solutions.

Healthy Together is a well-funded, high-growth AI company serving an eager and receptive market, where the primary challenge is execution at scale rather than product-market fit. The Head of Platform will operate in an environment where technology is central to the company’s value proposition and where engineering excellence directly impacts real-world outcomes for millions of people.

The role also offers the opportunity to collaborate with an exceptionally strong, collegial group of engineers, product leaders, and executives—individuals who value technical rigor, thoughtful debate, and shared ownership of outcomes. For the right leader, this position provides both the scope and the mandate to build something enduring, impactful, and technically excellent.
