Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior, Arizona, seeks a Director of Education to provide strategic direction for the Education Department and to partner with Copper Corridor Community to develop STEM programs aligned with the Arboretum’s mission. The incumbent also oversees onsite educational programming and volunteer engagement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education or related field.
• 8-10 years managing educational programs in public gardens or informal settings.
• Experience supervising staff and volunteers.
• Knowledge of arid-lands ecology.
• Fluent in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the Education Department and partner with Copper Corridor Community.
• Develop STEM education programs aligned with the Arboretum’s mission and goals.
• Oversee onsite educational programming and volunteer engagement activities.
• Develop and manage department budget, grant reporting, and donor funds.
• Lead staff, coordinate adult education classes, and engage community partners.
• Deliver programs and presentations to diverse audiences and ensure program quality.
