Job summary

Heartland Community Health Center is seeking a Director of Risk and Compliance to lead the organization’s risk, privacy, and compliance programs. The role will partner with executive leadership to identify exposures, implement controls, and drive improvements across patient safety and health information management.

The position reports to the COO, interacts with the CEO and Board, and includes responsibilities for health information governance, regulatory compliance, and incident management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Nursing, Risk Management, Quality Management, Law, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant experience (CRM/CCEP)
• Healthcare risk management, compliance, or patient safety certification preferred (CPHRM/CRM/CPHQ/CCEP)
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in healthcare risk management, patient safety, quality, compliance, or related leadership, including 3+ years in management

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy aligned with organizational goals across risk domains.
• Establish a framework for identifying, assessing, prioritizing, mitigating, monitoring, and reporting risks.
• Lead risk-based recommendations and escalation to leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Oversee health information management risk controls and privacy/security incident responses.
• Serve as HIPAA Privacy Officer and lead FTCA risk management activities.
• Monitor and improve risk management, compliance, and patient safety initiatives.
