Our client is a profitable, growth-stage software company that automates billing, revenue recognition and financial reporting for subscription and usage-based businesses. Its buyer is the Office of the CFO.
The company has about 75 employees and serves hundreds of SaaS, AI, cloud and fintech customers. Recurring revenue has doubled over the past two years, and the business is profitable. It recently raised growth capital to expand its AI product roadmap and go-to-market engine.
The role
The Head of Finance & Operations is the CEO's right hand. You'll run the company's internal operations, fix what slows growth, and lead acquisition work as the company grows by M&A as well as organically.
The role reports directly to the founder and CEO and sits beside him in the Washington, DC office. It's a broad, high-trust seat for someone who wants to learn how a company is run end to end and to eventually run one.
What you'll do
- Run internal operations. Own revenue operations and marketing operations, and keep the operating cadence, planning and metrics running across the company.
- Fix the go-to-market engine. Work with the VP of Sales and the partnerships team to find what isn't working in the sales process, and fix it with data.
- Lead corporate development. Find, evaluate and diligence acquisition targets. Build the financial models and run the deal process alongside the CEO.
- Own the financial picture. Lead FP&A-style analysis, forecasting and board-level reporting, and use automation and AI to keep finance and operations lean.
- Multiply the CEO. Take projects off the CEO's plate across every function, drive cross-functional initiatives to completion, and act as his proxy with the team.
What you bring
Required
- A strong finance foundation from FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity or corporate development, including financial modeling for M&A.
- Operating experience at a growth-stage company (roughly 50–500 people) in RevOps, BizOps or go-to-market operations.
- A record of owning broad, ambiguous scope and delivering results across functions.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Washington, DC area and work in the office alongside the CEO.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with acquisition diligence or integration.
- Experience building lean finance or operations functions with automation and AI.
- Background in B2B SaaS, fintech or finance software.
Why this role
- A path to COO. You'll run real operations next to a founder who has scaled finance software companies before, with scope that grows as you prove yourself.
- Real deal work. The company is actively looking at acquisitions, so you'll get M&A exposure that is rare at this stage.
- Growth without runway risk. The business is profitable, revenue has doubled in two years, and it was recently funded, so you can build without worrying about the next raise.
- A large, durable market. Every subscription business needs to bill, recognize revenue and report on it, and the company is taking share from larger incumbents.
