Job summary

Spellbrush is seeking a senior finance leader to own the money side of our anime-focused company. You will close, reconcile, and report across a US parent and a Japanese subsidiary, while managing spend controls and multi-currency revenue for upcoming mobile titles.

You will report to the CEO, ensure US and Japan compliance, and help drive strategic acquisitions. The role requires hands-on finance leadership at a startup with a flat structure and on-site presence in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• Experience as finance lead at a startup.
• Finance models involving multiple entities and international teams.
• Experience with heavy infrastructure spend and vendor negotiations.
• Ability to run finance solo with minimal management and a flat organizational structure.
• Willingness to be on-site in San Francisco and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Close, reconcile, and produce financial statements for US parent and Japanese subsidiary.
• Manage spend and controls: Ramp, expense policy, bill pay and approvals.
• Ensure compliance with US and Japan taxes, Delaware, Japanese filings, transfer pricing, and audits.
• Handle game launch finance: app store payouts, global taxes, multi-currency revenue, and live-ops reporting.
• Model contracts, capex and real estate transactions, vendor negotiations, and multi-year finance scenarios.
• Assist strategic M&A activities: diligence and closing.
