The Director of Finance & Accounting will oversee the organization’s finance and accounting functions across multiple locations and its Dealership Support Center. This executive-level position will provide leadership across day-to-day accounting operations while also serving as a strategic financial partner to the COO and broader leadership team.
The successful candidate will bring a combination of strong technical accounting knowledge, financial planning expertise, and leadership ability. This individual will oversee the close process, general ledger, AP/AR, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and ERP-related activities. The role will also focus on improving financial processes, strengthening controls, developing the accounting team, and turning financial data into actionable insights for the business.
Worksite Location
This hybrid position is Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN. The team is on-site 3 days/week.
Salary Range
$165k to $205k base salary plus annual bonus

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for the finance and accounting function, ensuring daily activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
- Oversee the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end close, general ledger activity, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, banking, and commissions
- Build and maintain effective accounting procedures, controls, and accountability standards across the finance organization
- Develop and retain a high-performing finance and accounting team through coaching, career development, goal setting, and succession planning
- Act as a senior resource for complex accounting matters and provide direction when higher-level financial issues arise
- Help establish a consistent financial data framework that provides leadership with reliable and easily accessible information
- Evaluate business and financial data requests and ensure the team delivers useful analysis, forecasting, and modelling to support decision-making
- Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes, leverage automation, and reduce manual effort while improving accuracy
- Lead the annual budgeting process for the company’s franchises and Dealership Support Center
- Oversee rolling forecasts, financial models, and variance analysis to identify trends and potential business opportunities or risks
- Present meaningful financial performance insights, trends, and key indicators to executive leadership
- Maintain compliance with applicable financial reporting, regulatory, and tax requirements across the organization
- Provide oversight of the external audit process, ensuring the finance team is prepared and responsive throughout the engagement
- Ensure appropriate sales and use tax processes are followed across all states in which the organization operates
- Maintain strong internal controls and promote the accuracy and integrity of financial information throughout the organization
- Oversee financial ERP functionality, including general ledger configuration, reporting, controls, and data quality
- Collaborate with technology leadership and other executives to optimize financial systems, ERP processes, and reporting capabilities
- Participate in special projects and other strategic financial initiatives as business needs arise
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- At least 5 years of progressive experience across finance and accounting
- 5+ years of experience managing and developing finance and/or accounting professionals
- Demonstrated success overseeing accounting operations, including financial close, general ledger, AP/AR, and cash management
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and financial performance analysis
- Experience working with external auditors and managing multi-state sales and use tax requirements
- Working knowledge of ERP platforms and financial/general ledger systems
- Ability to operate effectively as a senior finance leader and partner with an executive leadership team
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial results and recommendations to non-financial leaders
- Sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills, with a high level of integrity and professionalism
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Ability to establish accountability, develop team members, and consistently deliver high-quality results
