Job summary

Sentry is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Events Analytics Platform in San Francisco. You will lead a team responsible for storing, querying, and analyzing massive event data, guiding architectural evolution and ensuring system stability.

You’ll grow the team, set technical direction, and mentor engineers to senior levels, shaping Sentry's data platform strategy and AI-enabled capabilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience in software engineering, including 4+ years of people management.
• Strong background in data platforms, storage systems, or analytical backends.
• Experience with distributed systems, query optimization, or scaling data-intensive workloads.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with Python or Rust is a plus.
• Observability, developer tools, or event-driven systems familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Grow and develop a team of engineers with ownership and impact.
• Set the technical and strategic direction for the team.
• Drive development of core EAP features and analytical storage patterns.
• Ensure EAP supports AI agents and MCP server workloads.
• Unify event data and enable fast cross-event querying at scale.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering, Streaming, Production, Security and Compliance.
• Lead incidents, postmortems, and scaling challenges with operational excellence.
• Foster a healthy, collaborative culture rooted in growth, accountability and inclusion.
