Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX seeks a Lead Engineer to own the Development Operations stack, guiding Build Engineers and design/DFM ICs from concept to fabrication. You will define processes, set design standards (GD&T, NX), and partner with supervisors to meet program milestones on time and with quality.

You will mentor engineers, drive manufacturability, manage fixtures and tooling, and coordinate with CNC, weld, and supply chain.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
At least 3 years in hands-on design, analysis, build, or manufacturing of hardware.
Experience leading product development or manufacturing engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Lead the Development Operations engineering team and raise quality and throughput.
Own DFM from concept through fabrication and tool design.
Own fixtures, tooling, and mechanical catalog items through handoff.
Act as technical decision maker for shop engineering stack.
Collaborate with supervisors on intake, queue, and expedite.
Coordinate with CNC programmers, machinists, welders, and inventory.
Drive NCR, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Create build documentation and planning for technicians and vendors.
Interface with supply chain to ensure parts hit rate.
Present look-ahead with options and capacity risk.
