Job summary

Maxwell Bond is partnering with a technology company in Sunnyvale, CA to hire a senior cybersecurity leader who will own security strategy, governance and risk management for devices, cloud and AI-driven solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the CEO and offering scope to shape the security function and build the team as the business grows.

You will develop a mature, scalable security programme, define the roadmap, and work with engineering and product teams to bake security

Qualifications

• 10+ years of cybersecurity experience.
• 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
• Knowledge of NIST, FedRAMP and enterprise risk management.
• Strong cloud security and Zero Trust principles.
• Experience with AI/ML security and modern security operations.
• Ability to communicate with executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

We're recruiting on behalf of our client for a senior cybersecurity leader to take ownership of security strategy, technical oversight and risk management within a technology business operating across connected devices, cloud platforms and AI-driven solutions.

This is a hands-on leadership position, reporting directly to the CEO, with the opportunity to shape the security function and build out the team as the business grows.

Location: Sunnyvale, California (fully onsite)

Base salary: $200,000–$260,000 + equity and benefits

The Opportunity

You'll be responsible for developing a mature, scalable security programme that protects the company's technology, infrastructure and business operations while supporting growth in enterprise and government markets.

Key responsibilities include:

• Define and deliver the organisation's security strategy, roadmap and long-term improvement plans.
• Lead security governance, risk assessments, compliance and third-party risk management.
• Oversee security across cloud environments, AI-enabled platforms, connected devices and embedded technologies.
• Work with engineering and product teams to build security into systems from the outset.
• Develop incident response, business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Establish security metrics, reporting and risk oversight for executive leadership.
• Build and develop a growing cybersecurity team.
• Support customer and stakeholder discussions around security requirements, assurance and compliance.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of cybersecurity experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
• Experience establishing and scaling security programmes within technology-led organisations.
• Strong knowledge of NIST, FedRAMP and enterprise security risk management.
• Solid understanding of cloud security, network architecture and Zero Trust principles.
• Experience overseeing AI/ML security, intelligent automation or modern security operations.
• The ability to work across technical teams and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders.

Experience with connected devices, embedded systems, autonomous technologies or government-facing environments would be beneficial.

• $200,000–$260,000 base salary, depending on experience.
