Job summary

ROCKFORD PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #205 in Illinois is seeking a Director of Bilingual – Multicultural Education. This executive role oversees TBE/TPI programs, staff development for English Learners, and curriculum resources to ensure high-quality programming for culturally and linguistically diverse students and families.

The role requires a Bachelor’s with Illinois teaching credentials, ESL/Bilingual endorsements, and preferred advanced certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and Illinois Teaching License (PEL) required.
• ESL and/or Bilingual endorsement required or preferred; Master’s degree and/or Illinois State Board of Education General Administrative Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures actions align with Board policies and district strategic plan.
• Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities.
• Performs other related duties to ensure an efficient work environment.
• Designs and implements staff professional development for ELs; coordinates with departments and consultants.
• Oversees and evaluates the effectiveness of TBE/TPI programs.
• Coordinates programs that raise awareness of multi-cultural education and equity in curriculum.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal EL mandates for TBE/TPI service delivery.
• Oversees selection and delivery of curriculum resources.
• Performs classroom visits to support staff.
• Assists with ESL teacher evaluations and bilingual department staff evaluations as needed.
