Job summary

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is seeking a Head of Audio for our Las Vegas show, based in the United States. The role oversees the Audio team, coordinating rehearsals, training and show operations, while managing equipment installations, maintenance and safety procedures.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in live entertainment audio, strong leadership, and expertise with audio consoles, wireless systems, RF, video and comms.

Head of Audio – “O”

Technical Management

We are looking for the next Head of Audio to lead our Audioteam at “O”! The main objective of this role is to assist the show’s Technical Director and the Technical Services Audio Manager in managing team activities and all operations of Audio systems and equipment (installations, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, show operations).The ideal candidate for this position will have strong leadership and effective communication who works well under pressure to solve problems in a live entertainment environment.

The Head of Audio will:

• Collaborate with Show and Technical Service leaders to coordinate and supervise special projects including the research, purchase, installation, testing, troubleshooting, integration and ongoing maintenance and inspections of all equipment and systems required for rehearsal, training and show applications as well as inter- or intra-departmental needs;
• Oversee weekly departmental task lists and crew scheduling, including day maintenance, rehearsal, training and show calls with the guidance of Show and Technical Services leadership;
• Manage HR/administrative tasks for the department, such as, but not limited to, payroll, scheduling, onboarding, and disciplinary actions with the guidance of leadership;
• Assist with establishing yearly budgets with Show and Technical Services leaders;
• Operate the front of house mix console and troubleshoot audio, RF, video and communication equipment as directed for performances, Artist training and maintenance;
• Ensure all departmental designs, equipment, systems, functions, procedures, show tracks, maintenance and inspection logs, special projects, etc. are properly and adequately documented;
• Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
• Develop a thorough knowledge of all Audio department equipment specific to the production in order to operate equipment safely;
• Establish emergency procedures for show systems and situations with the Technical Services Audio Manager, Technical Director, Stage Management, and the rest of the Technical team and ensure that all Artists, Technicians and staff are familiar with and trained on all pertinent procedures and equipment;
• Participate in and oversee special projects, including the installation of new audio show elements;
• Ensure all Health and Safety training records are up to date and recorded properly and assist in crew schedule to allow for training, in collaboration and compliance with leadership;
• Complete all other job-related duties as assigned.

What does it take for this role? The following hard skills are the basics of what’s needed to be successful in this position:

• At least 5 years of previous experience working with Audio in a live entertainment environment;
• Strong leadership capabilities;
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (AutoCAD preferred);
• Strong understanding of wireless microphone systems and automated systems;
• In-depth knowledge of operating and repairing Audio gear, including LCS, audio console mixing, RF, video, and communications systems;
• Skilled in LCS Cue Station programming;
• Electronics training and audio equipment repair skills is an asset;
• Ability to pass a swim test;
• Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card;
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; French is an asset;
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.
