Penn State University seeks a Lead for Archival Processing and Collection Strategies within the Eberly Family Special Collections Library. This tenure-line faculty role provides strategic and operational leadership for the full lifecycle stewardship of rare collections, guiding accessioning, processing, description, and digitization coordination.

Formación

• Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience leading archival processing, arrangement and description, accessioning, and collections management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience (supervision/mentoring/project management).
• Knowledge of archival standards (DACS, EAD, ArchivesSpace) and modern processing methods.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication; potential for tenure-track scholarship.

Responsabilidades

• Lead lifecycle processing for Special Collections Library (SCL) collections, including accessioning, processing, arrangement and description, digitization coordination, and rehousing.
• Supervise and mentor collections services staff to build a collaborative, transparent work culture.
• Establish policies, procedures, and documentation standards for consistency and efficiency.
• Set processing priorities aligned with collection development plans, donor commitments, teaching and research demand.
• Oversee accessioning workflows, donor coordination, and integration into collection management systems.
• Ensure compliance with archival standards (DACS, EAD) and scalable processing models.
• Track access metrics, backlog reduction, and stewardship outcomes.
• Serve as liaison between Special Collections and Preservation, Conservation, and Digitization units.
