Job summary

Lila Sciences is seeking a senior leader to own the technical direction for agentic AI systems applied to materials science. You will set the roadmap and lead a small cross‑functional team of scientists and engineers, partnering with diverse teams to land systems on real programs.

You will balance ambitious research with production reliability, publish where warranted, and scale agentic capabilities across the materials portfolio while representing the direction to technical leadership.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS, ML, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of post-PhD research and applied ML experience.
• Proven track record of delivering agentic AI systems.
• Strong Python and ML software engineering practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the agentic AI roadmap for materials science.
• Lead the design of agentic frameworks and end‑to‑end systems.
• Hire, mentor, and grow a small cross‑functional team.
• Partner with diverse teams to integrate with experimental infrastructure.
• Track and translate state‑of‑the‑art into internal strategy and publish when merited.
