About the Team
The Sarah Cannon Cancer Network-Head and Neck Specialists team at HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital in Charleston SC is seeking an experienced speech-language pathologist specializing in Head and Neck Oncology to join our comprehensive head and neck multidisciplinary team. This individual will work with over six head and neck surgeons, two speech-language pathologists, dentists, nutritionists, radiation and medical oncologists and nurses to provide state‑of‑the‑art care for patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancers.
Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of evidence‑based treatment plans for speech, voice, or swallowing disorders related to head and neck cancer
- Clinical swallow evaluations
- FEES
- MBSS
- Tracheostomy management including speaking valve placement
- Alaryngeal Voice Restoration & laryngectomy care including TEP management
- Participation in Head & Neck tumor board
- Pre‑Operative Counseling
- Prophylactic care for the oral preservation population
- Voice evaluation and treatment including videostroboscopic exams
- Participation in patient, family, staff, physician, student, and community outreach/education through provision of education and in‑services
- Program development through participation in research and/or local, state, national, or international conferences/presentations/meetings
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of a Master’s level Speech Language Pathology program is required
- Must be licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in South Carolina, in accordance with law and regulation
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) per ASHA preferred
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
- Must be proficient in MBSS
- At least 1 year of experience treating head and neck cancer patients, including laryngectomy patients and TEP placement, is preferred
- Leadership experience also preferred
