Job summary

Chatham County Government seeks an experienced certified Head Lifeguard for the Chatham County Aquatic Center. This part-time role is approximately 25 hours per week with rotating shifts 5:45am–Noon on weekdays and 5:45am–Noon or Noon–6pm on Saturdays.

Responsibilities include ensuring pool safety, enforcing rules, monitoring activity, responding to emergencies, providing instruction with strong customer service, maintaining logs, and serving as Duty Manager in the absence of management; opening

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Red Cross Lifeguard certification is required.
• At least one year of lifeguard or swim instruction experience, or three months at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience accepted.
• If under 18, one year of Swim Instructor experience at the center is required.

• High School Diploma or GED, and
• At least one (1) year of lifeguard or swim instruction experience, or
• Three months of such experience at the Chatham County Aquatic Center; or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Candidates under age 18 require one (1) year of experience as a Swim Instructor at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.
• Must possess the Red Cross Lifeguard certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Swim Instruction certification, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
