Job description

Thanks for your interest in Success Academy! Running a large, fast-growing, and high-performing network of public charter schools takes a village – families, children, teachers, staff and faculty, advocates, and supporters alike. We are growing fast in New York and expanding to Florida, and we would love to welcome you to our community! We work tirelessly every day to ensure children have access to a fun, rigorous, whole-child education regardless of zip code or economic status. When you join SA, you play a part in giving every student who walks through our doors a fair shot at reaching his or her potential.

Understanding the Facility

This Head will be responsible for operational management of a new 300,000 SF K‑12 school located in the South Bronx, New York.

This facility will be the flagship of SA's 57‑school portfolio and is intended to exemplify the best in publicly funded, privately operated K‑12 education in America.

Noted architects Skidmore Owings & Merrill have designed the campus specifically around our approach to exceptional K‑12 education, including designed-in flexibility of space, visibility of teaching and learning, and connectedness of learners.

In addition to its regular operation as a 2,400‑seat K‑12 integrated school, the building is expected to host many network-wide activities and to regularly receive multiple special visitors, including donors, regulators, elected officials, and scholars and families from other schools attending events.

Responsibilities

This is a leadership role dedicated to crafting and sustaining an inspiring, safe, and efficient environment that reflects the exceptional standards of Success Academy Charter Schools in launching a flagship institution and a beacon of excellence in public education in the Bronx. This role is pivotal in shaping the daily experience of our students, families, and staff, ensuring that every interaction and touchpoint reinforces our commitment to providing a world‑class educational journey. The Head position is a proactive architect of positive change, a master orchestrator of campus life, and a passionate advocate for creating a transformative learning community.

Championing a Culture of Excellence: Cultivate a campus atmosphere that embodies our school's values and fosters a sense of pride, belonging, and shared purpose. Lead the development and implementation of operational strategies that elevate the overall experience for students, families, and staff. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the school environment and create memorable moments that celebrate student achievement and community engagement.

Ensuring a Safe and Inspiring Environment: Design and implement comprehensive safety and security protocols that prioritize the well‑being of our entire community while maintaining an open and welcoming atmosphere. Orchestrate emergency preparedness plans and drills with a focus on empowering students and staff to respond effectively. Create a seamless, secure campus access and visitor management system that balances security and hospitality.

Orchestrating Seamless Operations: Oversee the maintenance and aesthetic excellence of our campus building, grounds, and equipment, ensuring they reflect the high standards of our educational programs. Collaborate with custodial staff to create an immaculate, healthy, and vibrant learning environment. Manage facilities scheduling and event logistics with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring seamless execution of all school activities.

Elevating the Student Journey: Design and manage student logistics that prioritize safety, efficiency, and a positive start and end to the school day. Coordinate with food service providers to ensure that our dining program and food service providers deliver innovative, high‑quality meals that prioritize both nutritional excellence and culinary appeal. Proactively support student well‑being through accurate attendance tracking, health services coordination, and a belief that all kids can.

Fostering Community and Connection: Develop and implement innovative strategies to engage families and the wider community in the life of the school. Curate impactful school events and activities that celebrate our students and strengthen our community bonds.

Empowering a High-Performing Team: Inspire and empower a dedicated team of operational staff, including security, custodial, and support personnel. Cultivate a collaborative, growth-oriented, and service-minded work environment. Manage to ensure the team consistently delivers exceptional service.

Strategic Resource Stewardship: Develop and manage the operational budget with a focus on maximizing impact and ensuring responsible resource allocation. Identify and implement strategies to optimize costs and efficiently utilize resources.
