SkyBridge Luxury is partnering with a luxury resort in the Florida Keys to identify an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the property's engineering and maintenance operations. This is a highly hands-on leadership role where you work alongside the team, troubleshoot issues directly, and uphold the high standards expected in a luxury hospitality setting.

Qualifications

  • Significant hotel or resort engineering experience.
  • Visible, hands-on leader capable of diagnosing problems.
  • Experience in luxury resort or waterfront hospitality.
  • Knowledge of Florida building systems and hurricane preparedness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the resort’s day-to-day engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations.
  • Remain hands-on with repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pool, and other building systems.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs.
  • Manage engineering projects, property improvements, and capital expenditures.
  • Lead, train, and develop the engineering team; maintain accountability.
  • Manage outside contractors, vendors, inspections, and service providers.
  • Maintain compliance with life safety, fire, building, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with resort leadership to minimize downtime and protect guest experience.
  • Prepare for coastal Florida environment including hurricane preparedness.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, tools, and supplies; control departmental expenses.

SkyBridge Luxury has partnered with a luxury resort in the Florida Keys to identify an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the property's engineering and maintenance operations. This is a highly hands‑on leadership role for an engineering professional who is comfortable working alongside the team, troubleshooting issues directly, and maintaining the high standards expected within a luxury resort environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the resort’s day-to-day engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations
  • Remain highly hands‑on with repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pool, and other critical building systems
  • Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance programs
  • Manage engineering projects, property improvements, and capital expenditures
  • Lead, schedule, train, and develop the engineering team while maintaining strong accountability
  • Manage outside contractors, vendors, inspections, and service providers
  • Maintain compliance with life safety, fire, building, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner closely with resort leadership and operations to minimize downtime and ensure engineering issues do not impact the guest experience
  • Prepare for and respond to the unique demands of a coastal Florida environment, including severe weather and hurricane preparedness
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of equipment, parts, tools, and supplies while controlling departmental expenses
Ideal Background

The ideal candidate will bring significant hotel or resort engineering experience with a strong technical foundation across all major building trades. This individual should be a visible, hands‑on leader who can diagnose and solve problems personally while effectively leading and developing a team.

Experience within a luxury resort, waterfront/coastal property, or complex full-service hospitality environment is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Florida building systems, hurricane preparedness, salt‑air corrosion, humidity management, and coastal infrastructure would be particularly valuable.

The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, urgency, organization, leadership, and pride of ownership, with an understanding that engineering plays a critical role in delivering a seamless luxury guest experience.
