Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is seeking a Head Custodian for Minnewashta Elementary to lead building operations and supervise custodial staff. This full-time, 12-month role ensures safe, clean, and well-functioning facilities for students, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities include daily operations, systems maintenance, staff supervision, and coordinating external maintenance. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical skills, with a pre-placement physical required

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience as Head Custodian with a School District preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• License: Minnesota 1st Class C Stationary Engineers or willingness to obtain.

• Coordinate exterior maintenance (mowing, debris removal, window and walkway upkeep) and manage supplies.
• Maintain a positive environment for occupants and coordinate facility use for groups.

Job description

Minnetonka Public Schools is hiring a Head Custodian at Minnewashta Elementary to lead building operations and oversee custodial staff. This full time, 12 month role maintains safe, clean, well functioning facilities for students, staff, and the community.

Your Role Will Include:

• Handle daily building requests and operations, working closely with building leadership and occupants.
• Inspect, monitor, and maintain the facility's HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, fire alarm, and emergency lighting systems, along with steam or hot water boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels in accordance with Minnesota State Statutes.
• Direct, train, and monitor custodial staff and review assignments.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs, including equipment, painting, and plumbing.
• Coordinate exterior maintenance (mowing, trimming, debris removal, window and walkway upkeep, snow and ice removal) and manage supply and equipment inventory.
• Maintain a positive environment for building occupants and coordinate facility use for internal and external groups.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent; current experience as a Head Custodian with a School District preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Evidence of a State of Minnesota 1st Class C Stationary Engineers License, or a minimum of a current Special Engineers License with a willingness to obtain the 1st Class license as soon as permitted by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
• Excellent customer service, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Technical skills to support Buildings and Grounds operations, with strong organizational, recordkeeping, and mathematical abilities.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre placement physical capabilities examination at Concentra, at the District's expense.

Salary and Benefits:

• Minimum pay rate: $27.55/hour.
• Full pay details: Schedule A of the Custodian and Maintenance Master Agreement.
• Medical and dental benefit eligible position.

Location & Shift Times:

• FT, 8 hours per day, 12 months per year. Minnewashta Elementary.
• 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
