Job summary

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable, team‑focused Head Cook to join our school food service program at the Flandreau School District. The schedule is Monday–Friday 6am‑1:30pm, on‑site, with a daytime shift designed for work‑life balance.

You will lead daily meal production, manage kitchen workflow, ensure safety, help train staff, and support ordering and inventory while delivering nutritious meals to students.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of cooking experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily food production by preparing high-quality meals, following recipes, supporting special diets, and helping with catering and serving-time readiness.
• Maintain clean work areas, organize storage with FIFO, and manage logs, production records, and inventories.
• Monitor food safety practices and maintain a healthy, compliant kitchen.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, prep lists, freezer pulls, and serving during meals.
• Train team members and cover other kitchen duties as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Lead daily food production by preparing high‑quality meals, following recipes, supporting special diets, and helping with catering and serving‑time readiness.
• Keep the kitchen organized and compliant by maintaining clean work areas, overseeing storage organization using FIFO, completing HACCP logs, production records, inventories, and participation tracking.
• Support food safety by monitoring safe practices and maintaining a healthy, compliant workspace.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, prep lists, freezer pulls, and serving during meal times.
• Help train team members and fill in for other kitchen duties when needed.

What You Bring

• HS Diploma or GED Preferred
• 1 year of cooking experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, twisting, and other physical tasks.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to follow recipes, measure ingredients, and convert quantities for large batches.
• Dependability, integrity, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
