The School District of Indian River County is outlining the path to become an Athletic Coach. Start by obtaining a Florida Department of Education Athletic Coaching Certification and then apply through the district's website.
Final employment requires HR clearance and orientation, paid at the time of service. Certification options include a Three-Year or Five-Year Athletic Coaching Certificate with required coursework, CPR/AED, First Aid, and fingerprinting through FDLE/FBI.

1. Submit your application for an Athletic Coaching Certification with the Florida Department of Education .
2. Apply to become an Athletic Coach through the district's website .
3. Wait to be contacted by Human Resources to schedule your orientation appointment. This only occurs once an offer of employment is extended and accepted.
Orientation includes the following fee:
Payable by credit or debit card only at time of service using Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Discover is not accepted.
Please note: You may not begin employment until the orientation is complete and Human Resources has given final clearance.
All coaches who do not hold a valid Florida Educator's Certificate are required to obtain either a Three-Year or Five-year Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate.

The course requirements may be met through college coursework or the Human Kinetics Athletic Coaching Endorsement program , which is approved under the School District of Indian River County's Master Inservice Plan.
