Job summary

Boone County Schools is seeking a dedicated athletic coach responsible for developing student athletes, enforcing safety standards, and coordinating practice programs with the athletic director and principal. The role emphasizes credential verification, event planning, and budget oversight within the school athletics framework.

The ideal candidate will have a teaching or emergency substitute certificate, a bachelor's degree or higher, CPR/First Aid, and a proven coaching background plus

Qualifications

• Must hold Kentucky teaching or valid Emergency Certificate for Substitute Teaching.
• Degree or equivalency with required KHSAA electives as applicable.
• CPR with Adult/Child certs and AED use, First Aid training.
• Experience coaching and ability to work with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Coach participants to develop skills and sportsmanship.
• Plan and schedule regular practice programs with AD approval.
• Assist in scheduling interscholastic contests in the sport involved.
• Prepare bids and recommend equipment purchases as needed.
• Maintain attendance forms and insurance records.
• Ensure safety conditions of facilities while students are present.
• Enforce eligibility criteria and discipline standards.
• Develop annual budget requests for the sport and manage funds.
• Evaluate assistant coaches and report to Principal/AD.
• Participate in duties described in regular teacher job description.
• Oversee maintenance of athletic equipment and practice schedules.
• Submit purchase orders for review; obtain principal approvals for fundraising.
• Supervise student fund-raising activities related to drama program.
• Ensure all students are supervised by certified personnel after school.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
