Job summary

Newton Public Schools' Newton North High School in Newton, MA seeks a Head Coach for JV Baseball to develop student athletes in fundamentals, strategy, and training while fostering sportsmanship and community involvement.

The successful candidate will plan and supervise practices, evaluate coaching staff, ensure safety, coordinate with school and athletic departments, and support college advancement for players.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Delegates staff assignments to assistant coaches.
• Develops and organizes practice program.
• Evaluates assistant coaches and playing personnel.
• Plans and develops game responsibilities.
• Conducts and analyzes scouting reports.
• Assists student athletes in college advancement.
• Maintains and inventories all equipment and supplies.
• Acts as liaison to staff, administration, public, and media.
• Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential.
• Responsible for other job related duties as needed.

Reports to: Athletic Director, School Principal

SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to instruct student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

At the same time, the students shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, sportsmanship and service to others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to operate computer, printer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, and all other standard office equipment
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large and small school building, practice facilities, weight room, etc
• Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
