Overview: The Head Coach is responsible for teaching the skills and techniques of cheerleading, providing guidance, advice, and training to foster good sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, and responsibility among athletes. This role offers an opportunity to serve as a positive role model for young athletes.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of cheerleading principles and rules
  • Commitment to students, community, and instructional leadership, promoting character and school spirit
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Previous coaching experience preferred
  • CPR certified

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct try-outs and inform candidates about eligibility
  • Determine team membership
  • Ensure athletes meet eligibility requirements throughout the season
  • Plan and supervise practices and games
  • Adhere to DIAA rules and district policies
  • Maintain discipline and sportsmanship
  • Oversee safety conditions and report issues
  • Motivate athletes and promote school spirit
  • Supervise locker rooms
  • Supervise assistant coaches
  • Manage athletic equipment
  • Review season performance with coaching staff
  • File end-of-season reports
