  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the Milken Community School cheer program and perform all services thereof as scheduled and/or directed by the Athletic Director.
  • Coaches and instructs cheerleaders in grade 6-12, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
  • Work with the Athletic Director to develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Assess cheerleader’s skills and monitors cheerleaders during competition and practice.
  • Determines strategy to ensure success in competition.
  • Supervises cheerleaders during practices and football games.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of a cheerleader's injury.
  • Responsible for the use, care, storage and inventory of all Milken athletic equipment issued for use by the athletic program including, but not limited to pom poms and uniforms.
  • Participates in special activities to include open house, school assemblies, parent’s night, banquets, and award nights.
  • Performs support tasks such as maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations and policies as mandated by the CIF and Milken Community School.
  • Promote the sport with students, alumni, and members of the community.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Athletic Director, and the Head of Athletics, the cheerleading coach provides leadership and direction to help mold the cheer program while adhering to Milken Community School rules and regulations. The Cheer Coach must support the student-athlete concept and demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. They must support, encourage, and monitor student-athletes’ academic progress. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Standard On-Campus Hours

Hours vary based on season, practices, competitions, tournaments, offseason programming, and other approved athletic department responsibilities.

SALARY RANGE: $35.00 - $40.00 (Hourly)
