The Head Camp Counselor is responsible for the safety, well-being, and supervision of the campers. All duties will reflect the YMCA of the USA character development traits of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure the safety and well-being of campers and maintain a risk-free environment
• Assist in planning and implementing activities as per the camp schedule
• Maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff
• Organize and maintain camp equipment and supplies
• Participate actively in all scheduled activities
• Keep accurate records, including incident reports and attendance
• Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures
• Collaborate with the Head Counselor and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old or have prior camp experience
• Ability to use technology effectively
• Attend all pre-camp and camp season trainings
• Obtain and maintain necessary certifications before camp begins

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

Employees must frequently stand, sit, walk, communicate, and hear. Occasionally, they will need to handle objects, reach, climb, or stoop. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities. Exposure to bacteria and viruses is possible.
