Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from a CAATE accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred.
• NATA BOC certification; Mississippi Athletic Trainer License (or eligible to obtain).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience; NCAA collegiate level preferred.
• Active CPR/First Aid Certification; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, directing, and executing injury prevention programs.
• Assist with fitting protective athletic gear and maintaining equipment records.
• Communicate health information with coaches, healthcare providers, and administrators while respecting confidentiality.
• Maintain accurate athletic training records and medical data.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the athletic training room, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes.
• Ensure proper documentation of pre-participation paperwork, physicals, insurance, and rehabilitation reports.
• Enforce concussion and return-to-sport protocols in partnership with team physicians.
• Coordinate with coaches, staff, physicians, and others per NATA code of ethics.
• Attend practices, games, and events to provide on-site medical coverage.
• Schedule student aides/workers and support daily events and room operations.
• Assist with budgeting and purchasing for the Sports Medicine Department.
• Support safe return to activity after concussion and maintain room operations.
• Assist with scheduling orthopedic appointments and other college activities.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree (CAATE accredited)

Master’s degree preferred
