Job summary

Covenant HealthCare is seeking a Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist to ensure accurate documentation and coding for HCC performance across CHP providers. You will educate primary and specialty care teams, review charts, and support analytics to improve coding accuracy and revenue capture.

The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, auditors, and CHP leadership, with opportunities to lead educational initiatives and stay current on coding updates.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Professional coding certification (CPC, CRC) required; may substitute two years ICD9/10CM and CPT-4 experience with CPC within 12 months of hire.
• Experience in professional coding/physician office setting preferred.
• Knowledge of EHR documentation methodologies (Epic, Intelicode, Systoc) and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Compile payer and Epic data related to risk coding and documentation performance.
• Adhere to coding rules for professional coding based on documentation in patient records.
• Identify opportunities to improve coding accuracy through chart and report review.
• Review charts and query providers to improve documentation specificity.
• Assist in physician meetings and CHP leadership presentations on coding performance.
• Participate in risk adjustment analytics projects and department meetings.
• Develop coding support tools and participate in process improvements.
