Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Frankfort, IL is seeking an Industrial Services Laborer to join our Team Green. The role involves responding to spills, performing chemical transloading, and conducting decontamination, with a focus on safety and readiness.

Ideal candidates are physically fit, able to wear protective gear, and able to pass a drug screen. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel on occasion are required; on-call work is a component of the job.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to wear chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection as required.
• Valid Driver's License with clean MVR.
• Must be able to pass drug screen prior to starting position.
• Experience in a position relating to hazardous materials emergency response would be an asset.
• Ability to fulfill on-call requirements and travel on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Respond immediately to spills, covering rail, road, and fixed facilities.
• Perform chemical transloading between different containment methods (e.g., tank cars, tank trucks, fixed facility tanks).
• Conduct chemical neutralization and decontamination as necessary.
• Maintain and prepare emergency response equipment, including servicing and upgrading, and ensure all relevant documentation is collected and maintained during emergency responses.
