Job summary

GFL Industries is seeking a HAZMAT Technician to join the Emergency Response Team. You will provide expert technical support during emergency activations involving dangerous goods, ensuring rapid response 24/7 and maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities include spills response, chemical transloading, decontamination, and leading safety efforts. The role requires physical fitness, a valid driver's license, and readiness to train for advanced HAZWOPER credentials.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to wear chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection when required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Hazardous materials emergency response experience is an asset.
• HAZWOPER Certification preferred but not required.
• Willing to work off-site or out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

• Respond at a moment's notice to spills including rail, road, and fixed facilities.
• Perform chemical transloading between containments (tankcars, trucks, etc.).
• Perform chemical neutralization and decontamination as required.
• Organize resources for response and preparation, including personnel, equipment, and documentation.
• Maintain emergency response equipment and customer equipment for readiness.
