Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) in Berkeley, CA, is hiring a Truck Driver in the Facilities division. You will perform on- and off-site pickups and deliveries for Laboratory divisions, DOE facilities, UC Berkeley, and other regional locations, operating forklifts up to 8.5 tons and various trucks.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL with Hazmat, tanker, and airbrake endorsements, plus DOT Hazmat certification, with possible intrastate long-haul work and leadership of

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat, tanker and airbrake endorsements.
• DOT Hazmat certification.
• Current medical card.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Experience with heavy-duty semi trucks and forklifts (8.5 Tons).
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pickups, deliveries, sorting, staging, and distribution of packages and materials for Laboratory locations and remote sites; operate forklifts up to 8.5 tons, liftgate trucks, flatbeds, and other equipment.
• Ensure cargo is loaded, secured, documented, and tracked using barcode scanners and electronic delivery systems; obtain signatures and maintain records; comply with DOT/state regulations.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections, report maintenance issues, maintain clean vehicles and work areas, and report incidents or discrepancies; may serve as lead driver as needed.
