Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Hazardous Waste Tech to support safe waste handling in a busy healthcare environment. Under supervision, you will remove and transport medical, hazardous, and recyclable waste, manage soiled linens, and assist with event setups while maintaining cleanliness and infection control standards.

The role requires basic English communication and patient-safety awareness; prior healthcare or environmental services exposure helps.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in healthcare, Environmental Services, customer service, or hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Safely remove and transport infectious/non-infectious waste including medical, hazardous, municipal, recycling, and linen from the facility to specified collection areas.
• Follow an appropriate schedule to ensure timeliness of waste and soiled linen removal throughout the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness of the loading dock, trash compactor area, and trash containers.
• Move furniture and other items from patient care hallways to maintain proper egress.
• Setup and breakdown of tables and chairs for meetings and events.
• Handle and dispose of medical waste and sharps observing all required precautions, including properly tying and labeling bags.
