Job summary

James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge seeks a field-oriented SCA member to assist with the Native Plant Materials Project, collecting and conserving native Hawaiian plant material and supporting post-fire habitat rehabilitation.

You will join a small biology team, help with seed collection, processing, and data entry, and participate in invasive species control, avian monitoring, and habitat recovery efforts over the assignment period.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude, professionalism, and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Basic knowledge of Hawaiian ecosystems and plant communities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently or on a team.

Responsibilities

• Support native Hawaiian plant collection, processing, and documentation.
• Assist in fieldwork including hiking and travel to remote sites as needed.
• Collaborate with inter-refuge partners and NPS/Lyon Arboretum on project goals.
• Support general refuge activities and project administration.
