Job summary

York Building Products is seeking a Haul Truck Operator to move shot rock, finished stone, and other materials at the quarry. You will keep material moving, operate heavy trucks safely, and follow MSHA regulations.

The role requires prior experience with haul trucks or similar heavy equipment, willingness to work overtime, and the ability to work outdoors in changing weather. You will perform pre-trip inspections, assist with additional quarry tasks, and maintain a clean, safe work area.

HAUL TRUCK OPERATOR

Move Rock. Move Material. Keep the Quarry Moving.

If you’re comfortable behind the wheel of heavy equipment, take pride in doing the job safely, and don’t mind getting a little dirty, we want you on our team.

As a Haul Truck Operator, you’ll be a key part of the quarry operation—moving shot rock, finished stone, plant waste, and other materials where they need to go. You’ll keep material moving, equipment running safely, and production on schedule.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Safely operate haul trucks throughout the mine site and transport materials to designated locations.
• Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking safety equipment, fluids, tires, and overall truck condition.
• Perform basic maintenance and report mechanical or safety issues before they become bigger problems.
• Complete daily equipment checklists and document work performed during your shift.
• Report to your assigned loading area ready to work and participate in pre-shift meetings.
• Communicate with loaders, equipment operators, supervisors, and other team members to keep the operation running safely and efficiently.
• Help with other quarry work when needed, including road repair, cleanup, troubleshooting, plant equipment, blasting, and excavation support.
• Keep your equipment and work area clean, safe, and ready to roll.
• Follow all York Building Products safety procedures, PPE requirements, and MSHA regulations.
• Treat customers, coworkers, and management with professionalism and respect.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Previous experience operating a haul truck or similar heavy equipment.
• Mining or quarry experience is a plus.
• A strong understanding of equipment safety and safe operating practices.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment when needed.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to recognize and respond to changing conditions, including traffic, weather, equipment, and job-site hazards.
• Comfortable using electronic equipment and software associated with modern haul trucks.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and a flexible schedule during busy periods.
• Ability to work independently while also being a solid member of the quarry crew.

THE REALITY OF THE JOB

This is quarry work—not a desk job. You’ll spend your days around heavy equipment, dust, noise, vibration, changing weather, and an active mining operation. Safety comes first, every shift, every load, every time.

You’ll need to:

• Sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Safely climb on and off heavy equipment.
• Walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Perform equipment inspections and light maintenance.

TRAVEL

You may be required to work at various York Building Products facilities.
