Job summary

Wiregrass Construction is seeking a reliable and skilled Haul Truck Driver to join our team. The Haul Truck Operator is responsible for transporting materials on construction job sites in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, while adhering to OSHA safety standards and communicating with supervisors and dispatch.

Responsibilities

  • Operate haul truck to transport construction materials safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections including checking oil, fluids, brakes, fuel levels, tires, and lights prior to beginning work.
  • Evaluate road and jobsite conditions each day and assess how routes may be impacted.
  • Communicate promptly with dispatcher and supervisor regarding delays, unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment breakdowns.
  • Report all mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Perform minor maintenance and upkeep on off-road trucks, including washing, cleaning, and light painting as needed.
  • Operate automated or semi-automated hoisting devices to raise refuse bins and dump contents into truck bodies when applicable.
  • Dismount and remount truck at designated collection points along assigned routes.
  • Clean truck and compactor bodies at the end of daily operations.
  • Secure materials properly to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
  • Prevent damage to equipment and materials through proper operation, handling, and inspection.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Moderate physical effort required to operate haul truck and related equipment.
  • Frequent climbing in and out of truck cab.
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking on uneven jobsite terrain.
  • Occasional lifting of materials under 25 pounds.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing 60 pounds or more when required.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and pull levers and operate foot pedals.
  • Repetitive wrist, hand, finger, ankle, and foot movements.
  • Ability to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting or standing.
  • Ability to climb, balance, and maneuver safely on job sites.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through spoken word.
  • Ability to hear and distinguish equipment sounds that may indicate mechanical issues.
  • Responsible for preventing damage to equipment and transported materials.
  • Accountable for proper securing, handling, inspection, and operation of haul truck.
  • Responsible for safe operation to protect personnel, property, and company assets.

The Haul Truck Operator is responsible for transporting materials on construction job sites in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
